4.29.09 - local doctor is an idiot. LAST CHEMO IS ON.

so i had my doctor's office fax all my enzyme labwork and chemo flow sheet to my UCSF doctor, mark moasser, who called me and said he NEVER gives liver enzyme tests to his patients undergoing chemo, that of course chemo elevates the enzymes, and he said i should just go ahead with chemo as usual. so that means i have had six liver enzyme tests for NOTHING. i called my doc and told him, and he said fine. so i'm on for 10 a.m. friday for my LAST FRIGGIN CHEMO.

cancer, you not so funny right now.

thanks, michelle!!

dear kathy, after reading this, alcohol shall never pass my lips again. :( i'm going to celebrate probably in a very quiet way, and i know i'll cry. this whole ordeal has been so incredibly bizarre and surprising--as you know, every day was something different with the side effects. so stressful. the first thing i'll do is get rid of the damn chemo bag! i hate looking at it. xoxo

deb, please tell me the local doc is not the one who will doing your checkups and monitoring you after treatment. if so, find another guy. this is disturbing.

and props to you on friday. thank God you're two days away from done.

:) hugs to you sweetie. a few more steps up the mountain and you're coming down the other side...or as Armand would say, cancer is "almost" your bitch ;0)

sharon, i have been battling with my insurance company about this doctor since january. because of insurance,i am stuck with him until he retires (which he has assured me will be ASAP). i'll still be going to UCSF for checkups also, even if i have to pay out of pocket. my insurance company pays for the UCSF doctor as a second opinion. so we'll see. i don't think i'll be living in this city for longer than two years, so thank goodness i can get away from this doctor eventually. thanks for caring and for writing.

we love armand!

I'll second the Armand props :)

I'm happy to hear you won't be monitored by that doctor. The main proactive thing we can do is find physicians who give us confidence.

Good luck on Friday. You're almost done!! I'm doing a happy dance here for you Deb!!

As long as that sucky chemo works this time, who gives a f**k about the silly enzyme tests? Roll on a few more degrees of "normality" (hmm.. what's that, I hear you ask...)

Progress! :)

I'm very happy for you Deborah. You're almost there!

On! On! On! I am so there with you in spirit...the best part for me was ringing the bell. I had clapped so many times for other people over the past 5 months and finally they were clapping & cheering for me - and tomorrow, dear friend, I'll be ringing the bell for you! xoxo je t'embrasse fort, G

Best of times ahead for you, Deb! So happy tomorrow is it.

Restarting my chemo today since I've finally been cleared of the infection of my chest wall. So, it's T-50 minutes for me and only three treatments left - yeah!

Praying that I have the same courage you've shown...
